The Problem: Exterior Materials That Fail on the Building Envelope

The exterior envelope of commercial and industrial buildings faces simultaneous attacks from UV radiation, freeze-thaw cycling, wind-driven rain, and impact from equipment and debris. Traditional siding materials — fiber cement, OSB, and wood — absorb moisture over time, leading to mold colonization, structural swelling, and eventual failure of fastening systems.

Concrete formwork is a particular pain point: standard plywood forms deteriorate after 3–8 pours, requiring costly replacement and generating significant construction waste. The combination of chemical exposure from concrete additives and repeated mechanical stress accelerates degradation in any organic-based panel.

The Miura Board® Solution

Miura Board® panels provide a chemically resistant, dimensionally stable substrate for both permanent cladding applications and reusable concrete formwork. The material does not absorb water, does not expand or contract with humidity changes, and will not delaminate under repeated pour cycles.

Its ASTM E84 Class C fire rating makes it compliant for a broad range of commercial construction applications. Panels are available in thicknesses from 1/4″ to 1.5″ and can be cut, drilled, and fastened using standard woodworking equipment — no specialist labor required.
